
Olivier Fargeix, nickname « Papillon » was born in march 1966 in Paris 17th district.
At 20 year old, he left for the army, finished is classes at Hourtin, then straight to the maritime college of Lanveoc Poulmic in Bretagne he taught the horsemanship to the young student naval officer.
During this time an idea ripened in his mind. With the help of a friend who wanted to travel to Zaïre by bicycle. The idea took route. He resigned his contract to military service, then 15 days later the two find themselves at Bangui in Republique of Centre Afrique with their bicycles in the very heart of Africa. They crossed the entire northeast of Zaïre up to the region of the great lake ( Kiwu lake).Nearly 3000 km in bicycle in the center of Africa represent an unforgetable experience.
In 1989 depart from Marseille as a skipper of the 40 foot steel sailing boat on the way to the Canaries, Dakar, San Pedro in Ivory coast, crossing south Atlantic till Ascension island, Recife and Jakare in Brazil. Going up til Fortaleza, reach Belèm in delta of Amazonia. Three months inside this fabulous delta till the “Mouth of the Xingu”, went out by Macapa delta till the french Guyana, north Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago and finally the Caribbean.
April 1994, discovered South East Asia, he had a choice and pratice Buddhism for three month in the temple in Tathon close the Burmese border. Marvelous experience, very enriching. Very good feeling with the population.
February 1995 new departure for Indonesia. This time to approach this new continent in depth, by the means wich is considered best to discover any country on the road development : the bicycle.
The reason of the travel was to met the Dayak tribe on the Santarum Lake, west Borneo, about 2500 km on a fabulous journey.
